For hydrogen gas, standard strain gauges often fail due to hydrogen’s effect on electrical resistance and potential embrittlement, therefore requiring specialized gauges.
These foil strain gages are capable of obtaining stable strain measurements in high-pressure hydrogen gas environments with less change in electrical resistance due to hydrogen, compared with conventional foil strain gauges.
