KFGS – Strain Gauge for general stress

£0.00

The Kyowa KFGS series are general-purpose foil strain gauges designed to measure minute deformation (strain) in structures and materials by converting mechanical strain into an electrical signal. They are among Kyowa’s typical strain gages and provide reliable performance for a wide range of measurement scenarios.

Key characteristics:

  • Foil construction on a thin polyimide base: The sensing element uses a CuNi alloy foil bonded to a ~13–14 µm polyimide resin base that gives excellent flexibility and makes the gage easy to bond onto a surface.

  • Good environmental resistance: Outstanding moisture resistance allows use in both indoor environments and many field conditions without mandatory protective coating (unless exposed directly to water droplets).

  • Wide applicability: Suitable for general strain measurement on metal structures and components across industries — such as machinery, automotive, civil engineering and laboratory testing — where precision deformation data is needed.

  • Variants and lead-wire options: Available in multiple grid lengths, patterns and lead-wire configurations so the gauge can be matched to the specific test application and attachment method.

How it’s used:
These strain gauges are typically bonded to the surface of a specimen or structure with a suitable adhesive. As the object deforms under load, the gauge’s electrical resistance changes proportionally to strain. This change is then measured using a Wheatstone bridge and strain amplifier, enabling accurate monitoring of stress, load, vibration, or structural integrity.
